HUTCHINSON, Kansas - The Hinds Community College Track & Field team made a powerful statement at the NJCAA Outdoor Championships, with both the men's and women's teams finishing in the top ten nationally. The men secured 9th place while the women claimed 10th, a testament to the talent and determination within the program.With 22 All-American honors and a total of three national runner-up finishes, Hinds Track & Field continues to build on its proud tradition. The athletes' grit, talent, and teamwork proved that the Eagles are a force to be reckoned with on the national stage.
The men's team delivered standout performances, earning three national runner-up finishes. The 4x100m relay team of Jayval Wright, Raheem Pinnock, Robert Turner, and Craig Carson clocked a blazing 39.60 seconds to take second place. Matthew Sullivan also earned runner-up honors in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.67, while Tavon Davis broke a school record in the 400m dash (45.40) to finish second as well. Davis was also part of the 4x400m relay team that claimed third place and set another school record with a time of 3:05.71. Shadane Smith added to the accolades, finishing fifth in the 400m hurdles and setting a new school record at 50.37.
On the women's side, La'Nica Locker broke the school record in the 200m dash with a time of 22.99 to earn third place, and Twyshanna Huie followed suit with a third-place finish in the 400m hurdles. Queen Usunobun placed fourth in the 400m dash, and both the women's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams secured third place finish at the NJCAA D1 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
