Landers’ Walk-Off Caps Historic Sweep as Hinds Posts Best Start Since 2020

RAYMOND, Miss. - The Hinds Community College baseball team put together a day to remember, sweeping a doubleheader against Baton Rouge Community College with thrilling wins of 3–2 and 11–10 at Joe G. Moss Field on Wednesday.

GAME. ONE
Game one was a tight, back-and-forth battle that came down to timely pitching and clutch situational hitting. Hinds scratched across three runs on six hits and made them count, holding off a late BRCC push to secure the 3–2 victory. The Eagles leaned on solid work out of the bullpen to shut the door and set the tone for the nightcap.

Ryder Molea paced the Eagles offensively, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Cade Fairley, AJ Seiter, and RJ Brown each drove in a run to help power the offense for Hinds.

On the mound, Tyler West earned the start for Hinds, working two innings and allowing two runs. Brady Griffin was outstanding in relief, delivering a flawless first collegiate appearance. Griffin tossed five shutout innings, surrendered just one hit, and recorded two strikeouts to lock down the win.

GAME TWO
Trailing 10–2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Eagles looked to be on the brink of a split. Instead, Hinds erupted. The Eagles plated two runs in the sixth to spark life into the dugout before unleashing an unforgettable seven-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.

Down to their final outs, Hinds strung together quality at-bats, capitalized on opportunities, and steadily chipped away at the deficit. With runners on and the crowd on its feet, Kylan Landers stepped to the plate and delivered the moment of the day — a towering three-run walk-off home run that sealed the 11–10 comeback and sent the Eagles pouring out of the dugout in celebration.

Hinds racked up 11 runs on 10 hits in a wild offensive showcase highlighted by a late comeback. Cade Fairley had a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double, while RJ Brown finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Brody Breithaupt added a two-run homer, and Kylan Landers delivered the decisive blow, launching a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh.

On the mound, Rhett Murphy earned the win in relief, tossing a scoreless inning with a strikeout to close out the dramatic 11–10 victory for the Eagles.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday February 7th for a doubleheader against Nunez Community College. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 2 PM.
