RAYMOND, Miss. – Before the first pitch, Hinds Baseball honored its sophomore class in a special on-field ceremony at Joe G. Moss Field. The group was recognized for its hard work and dedication to the program, and they responded in fitting fashion by helping power the Eagles to a pair of wins. The Eagles erupted for a walk-off, run-rule grand slam in an 18-6 win in game one and followed it up with a 6-5 victory in the nightcap to complete the doubleheader sweep.

GAME ONE
Hinds wasted no time putting on a show in the opener, finishing the game in dramatic fashion with a walk-off grand slam to trigger the run rule in an 18-6 victory.

After Southern Arkansas University Tech grabbed an early 4-0 lead in the second inning, the Eagles steadily chipped away before breaking things wide open late. Hinds plated eight runs in the fifth and another eight in the sixth to turn a tight game into a rout.

The final swing came with the bases loaded and the Eagles already holding a commanding lead. A towering grand slam over the fence sent the dugout spilling onto the field as Hinds secured the run-rule victory in emphatic fashion.

Offensively, the Eagles tallied 18 runs on eight hits and took advantage of 11 walks and several key hit-by-pitches to keep constant pressure on the visitors. Multiple Eagles recorded multi-hit and multi-RBI performances as Hinds capitalized on timely hitting and disciplined at-bats. RJ Brown had a career game at the plate going 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI.

On the mound, Hinds' bullpen shut the door after the early deficit. The Eagles combined to limit further damage and gave the offense time to erupt, sealing the win and setting the tone for the day.

GAME TWO
The nightcap proved to be much tighter, but the Eagles once again found a way.

Hinds and SAU Tech traded blows early, with both teams scoring in the first inning. The Eagles built a 4-2 advantage through three innings before Southern Arkansas University Tech tied the game at 4-4 in the fourth.

Hinds responded with two key runs in the sixth inning to reclaim the lead at 6-4. SAU Tech added a run in the seventh to pull within one, but the Eagles' bullpen held firm to secure the 6-5 win and complete the sweep.

At the plate, Hinds collected seven hits and five RBI in the contest.The pitching staff combined to strike out eight and worked out of several late jams to preserve the narrow lead.

Hinds will return to action on Tuesday, March 3^rd against Coahoma CC and Northeast Mississippi CC in Booneville. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM.
