Ethan Keen Breaks BBCOR Homerun Record as Hinds Sweeps Mississippi Delta in Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Miss. – The Hinds Community College baseball team put together an explosive day at the plate and a strong showing on the mound, sweeping Mississippi Delta CC in a road doubleheader, 19-4 and 12-8.

Game One
Hinds wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, erupting for seven runs in the second inning to take control early. The Eagles kept their foot on the gas, piling up 19 runs on 14 hits in a dominant offensive performance.

Several players contributed to the offensive surge, highlighted by a power display that included home runs from Ethan Keen, Brody Breithaupt, and Lane Almond, who blasted two long balls. Tanner Alhinai added a pair of doubles in the contest.

Lane Almond turned in one of the biggest performances of the game, driving in eight runs, while Brody Breithaupt added four RBI of his own. The Eagles also capitalized on opportunities with runners on base, drawing walks and taking advantage of defensive miscues.

On the mound, Aiden Melna earned the win with a solid three-inning outing, allowing just one run while striking out five. The bullpen combination of Amzie Cochran, Cooper Loftin, and Thomas Nichols closed out the game to secure the run-rule victory.

Game Two
The nightcap proved to be more competitive, but Hinds once again delivered when it mattered most to secure the 12-8 victory.

After a steady start, the Eagles broke through with a four-run second inning and added key insurance runs late to hold off a Mississippi Delta comeback. Hinds finished with 12 runs on 11 hits in the second game.

Ethan Keen led the way with a huge performance, scoring three runs on two homeruns and driving in five. Additionally, Keen set the school record for home runs in the BBCOR era with his 18th long ball of the season.

RJ Brown also crossed the plate three times, while Ryder Molea and Tanner Alhinai each contributed multiple hits to keep the offense rolling.

Mississippi Delta battled back and kept the pressure on throughout the middle innings, but Hinds responded to maintain the lead.

Cole Stumph came up big out of the bullpen to earn the win, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and shutting down any late rally attempts.

Hinds will return to action on Tuesday, March 31th against Southwest Mississippi CC at Joe G. Moss Field. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3 PM.
