RAYMOND, Miss. – After months of hard work, standout performances, and battling against some of the top competition in the country, the Hinds Community College Track & Field teams are set for their biggest stage of the season at the 2026 NJCAA Division I Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Hosted by New Mexico Junior College, the national championships will run May 14-16, with competition beginning Thursday and the awards presentation concluding the event Saturday evening. Throughout the season, the Eagles have continued to prove why Hinds remains one of the premier track and field programs in the NJCAA.
The men's sprint crew has led the charge all year long. Curtis Coleman, Raheem Pinnock, and Jayval Wright consistently made their presence felt in the 100m and 200m, delivering explosive performances week after week against national-level competition.
On the women's side, Caneilia Hope continued to shine as one of the top sprinters in the NJCAA, turning in standout performances in both the 100m and 200m throughout the season. Morgan Bradley and Kylie Norbert added depth and firepower in the 200m, continuing the rich sprint tradition at Hinds.
In the 400m, Queen Usunobun once again proved why she is among the nation's elite, while Madison Rhodes and Angel Cumberbatch delivered key performances for the Lady Eagles throughout the outdoor campaign. On the men's side, Deshaun Gordon and Craig Carson battled every meet to keep Hinds among the nation's top programs in the quarter-mile events.
Akaree Roberts carried the torch in the 800m, showcasing consistency, toughness, and determination all season long while competing against some of the best middle-distance runners in the country.
The hurdles squad has also been relentless from start to finish. Mikenzy Hodges-Woods and Matthew Sullivan dominated the short hurdles, while Shadane Smith, DaJarian Leonard, and Nathanael Abrahams continued to raise the standard each meet, fearlessly taking on top national competition.
Relay excellence has once again played a major role in Hinds' success this season. James Carter helped lead the nationally ranked 4x100m relay squad, continuing the Eagles' proud tradition of elite sprint relays on the national stage.
