COLUMBUS, Miss. — The Hinds Community College women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 road victory over Mississippi University for Women on Tuesday evening, Sept. 1, getting a pair of second-half goals just 34 seconds apart to secure the shutout win.
After a scoreless opening half, Hinds broke through in the 61st minute. Mary Elise Taylor put the Lady Eagles on the board at the 60:31 mark, with Jordan Polk providing the assist to give Hinds a 1-0 advantage.
Just 34 seconds later, Hinds doubled their lead. Polk found the back of the net at 61:05, with Amelia Terry credited with the assist, pushing the Hinds advantage to 2-0.
The Hinds defense took care of the rest, preserving the clean sheet for goalkeeper Anna-Lynn Bishop, who recorded a save in the victory.
Hinds will have the weekend off before returning to action on Tuesday, September 8 against East Mississippi CC at Tom Shepherd Field. Kickoff is set for 5 PM.
