RAYMOND, Miss. – Hinds Community College quarterback Jaylon Ruffin has earned NJCAA Player of the Week honors following a record-setting performance in the Eagles' 52-28 victory over East Central Community College on Thursday night at Gene Murphy Field at Joe Renfroe Stadium.

The national recognition comes just one day after Ruffin was named the MACCC Offensive Player of the Week, giving the sophomore quarterback back-to-back honors at the conference and national levels.

Ruffin put together a spectacular all-around performance against the Warriors, accounting for six touchdowns and 385 all-purpose yards in the Eagles' conference victory.

Ruffin completed 27-of-33 passes for 303 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He was equally effective on the ground, rushing nine times for 82 yards and two touchdowns.

His six total touchdowns and 385 all-purpose yards helped propel the Eagles to their second consecutive victory and a 2-0 start in South Division play.

Hinds will look to keep its momentum rolling on Thursday, Oct. 1, when the Eagles travel to Moorhead to face Mississippi Delta Community College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
