COLLEGE: Was a member of the baseball team at Louisiana Tech University in the fall of 2017 before transferring to Hinds. Appeared in 18 games with 4 starts going 4-3 in 2018 with 43 innings pitched. Recorded a 4.19 ERA with 35 strikeouts. At the plate, Josh had 26 at bats recording a .346 batting average with 7 RBI’s and 3 stolen bases.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Doug Shanks at Central Hinds Academy (CHA) where he was a 4-year letterman. Was a two-year MAIS All-State baseball first team selection. Banes won the title of District MVP in baseball in 2016 and 2017. Was selected as a MAIS All-Star as well as a Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen selection in 2017.Was an All-District selection for 4 years. Banes also played basketball collecting All-District honors for 4 years. Was chosen as Mr. CHA and selected to the CHA Hall of Fame. Banes was also a member of Mu Alpha Theta mathematical honor society and the National Honor Society while at Central Hinds.
PERSONAL: Graduated from Central Hinds Academy in 2017. Son of Brad and Sonya Banes. Majoring in Business Management. Will be continuing his playing career next season at Northwestern State University.
