CJ Hampton

C.J. Hampton enters his first season on the Eagles coaching staff in 2021, as secondary coach.
 
Prior to Hinds, Hampton coached the defensive backfield for Mississippi Delta Community College and the cornerbacks for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for one season each. In 2018, he spent a year at Meridian High School, his high school alma mater.
 
The 2019 squad at Gulf Coast led the nation in total defense, with 191.1 yards allowed per game, and was third in the nation in pass defense and fourth in run defense.
 
As a player at the University of Mississippi, Hampton had 23 solo tackles and four assists as a sophomore and racked up 14 solos and 16 assists as a senior. As a free safety, he finished with five career starts and 83 total tackles, in addition to picking up a pair of forced fumbles, a tackle for loss and three passes defended.
 
At Meridian High School, he was a U.S. Army All-American and a four-star recruit. As a senior, he had 111 tackles and four interceptions on a team that made the Class 6A state semifinals. He was a Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen selection and was picked to play in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game.
