T’Darryl Grays, of Picayune, was named the secondary coach for the Hinds Community College football team during the Summer of 2022.
Grays arrives from East Mississippi Community College, where he served one season as an assistant coach and helped the Lion defense rank first in the conference. During his one year in Scooba, Grays helped lead the Lions to an undefeated regular season and a berth in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) playoffs. Following the 2021 season, Grays had two linebackers that were named all-conference under his leadership.
Prior to East Mississippi, he spent three seasons at Mississippi Delta Community College where he coached many MACJC All-State/North Division players such as Lebarron Jones, the NJCAA’s all-purpose yardage leader in 2019, and Mississippi State defensive back Kyle Cass.
During his playing days, Grays lettered with Picayune Memorial High School, where he helped lead his team to a record of 30-6 during his three seasons as a starter. This record includes back-to-back Class 4A District 8 championships and two deep postseason runs. These accomplishments helped Grays earn All-Region 8-4A honors along with being named Class 4A All-State Second Team.
Grays moved on to Southeastern Louisiana University, where he played in 30 games for the Lions. During his 30 games, he amassed 24 tackles, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. During his final season, he helped his team achieve third place in the Southland Conference.
