Doug Williams

Doug Williams has helped build Hinds into a soccer program that each year competes for the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) state championship and is entering his 20th season at the helm of the Eagles program in the 2020-2021 season. 
 
Williams joined the coaching staff at Hinds in 1998 as a graduate assistant under then head coach Tom Shepherd. In 2000 Coach Williams was named head coach, following Shepherd’s retirement.
 
Under the leadership of Williams, the Eagles have won over 75 percent of their games and collected nine state championships and seven regional championships and he has amassed an overall record of 226-85-20. His win total of 226 currently ranks him No. 10 on the NJCAA Men's Soccer winningest active coaches list. 
 
The soccer team members have won over 100 individual awards, including 62 MACJC All-State players, 47 All-Region honorees, four National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Americans and 12 NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
 
Williams has been named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (formerly MACJC now MACCC) Coach of the Year ten times, NJCAA Region XXIII Coach of the Year seven times and Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) Coach of the Year nine times.
 
He attended and played soccer at Hinds in 1993 and 1994. During his time in Raymond, the Eagles won the Region XXIII championship in 1993 and finished as runner-up in 1994.
 
 
From Hinds, Williams transferred to the University of Mobile (Ala.), where the Rams competed in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament. The Rams finished the 1994 season ranked in the NAIA top 10.
 
He later received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Belhaven College and a master’s degree in coaching / sports administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Williams has an extensive background in coaching. He has earned a B' License, National Youth License and Level II Goalkeeping Certificate from the United States Soccer Federation, an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and an Advanced Tactics Certificate from the Dutch Soccer Federation.
 
Williams currently serves as director of the Hinds Soccer Camp. He has also served as a member of the Cannon Soccer Club staff for five years and as a member of the Mississippi Olympic Development Program staff coach.
 
 
He and his wife Elaine reside in Raymond, along with their three children.
