TJ Carter is in his second season as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Hinds Community College.
 
The Brandon, MS, resident played for Head Coach Jacki Millet during her tenure as the head tennis coach at University Christian School (now Hartfield Academy). Carter, played #1 boys doubles and was a three time District Champion, South State Champion, State Champion, and selected to the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) All-State and All-Star tournament teams.
 
Carter, went on to receive a tennis scholarship to play for NJCAA Hall of Fame coach Wanda McPhail at Meridian Community College. He was part of back-to-back Region XXIII runner up teams.  During his freshmen season, he played #3 singles and number #2 doubles at the NJCAA National Tournament. During his sophomore season he played #2 singles and #3 double at the NJCAA National Tournament.
 
After leaving Meridian Community College, he went on to finish his education at Mississippi State University with a Bachelors in Exercise Physiology. He finished his Masters in Sport Management from the University of Southern Mississippi in the Spring of 2018 and has been an instructor in the HPR department since Spring 2018.
