Lydia Sutcliffe has been named the Head Coach of the Hinds Community College Women’s Soccer program, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the college and its community.
“I am absolutely delighted at the opportunity to be entrusted with the leadership of the women’s soccer program here at Hinds,” Sutcliffe said. “I have been at Hinds for several years and truly enjoy working with the students, players, staff, and the Raymond community. My vision is to guide our student-athletes to success in the classroom, develop their life skills, and motivate them to become more competitive on the field. I will incorporate the college’s mission and values into our program, with integrity and accountability at the forefront.”
Sutcliffe has been a key figure within the program since 2019, serving as an assistant coach where she played an integral role in training student-athletes, organizing practices, and recruiting talent.
“Lydia has been a crucial part of the women’s soccer program for the past four seasons and has really stepped up under the last two head coaches to show us that she is ready for this challenge,” said Nathan Werremeyer. “She is a big part of the Hinds family, and we felt it was time for her to put her stamp on the program and lead it into the future.”
Prior to her time at Hinds, Sutcliffe served as an assistant coach at the University of West Alabama from 2016 to 2019. She also competed collegiately for UWA from 2011 to 2014, where she was a member of the institution’s inaugural women’s soccer team. During her playing career, she earned Gulf South Conference First Team honors in 2012 and 2013, along with NSCAA and Daktronics All-South Region recognition.
A native of Brighouse, England, Kazery graduated from Huddersfield New College in 2011 and later earned her degree in physical education from the University of West Alabama in 2015. She currently resides in Raymond.
