The Hinds men's tennis team sits at 6-4 overall heading into the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state tournament starting on Thursday.
The state tournament will take place on Thursday-Saturday at the tennis courts on the Raymond Campus of Hinds and at Mississippi College in Clinton.
Nikita Lisov of Moscow, Russia, a sophomore, is undefeated at number two singles on the season. Mikhail Pecherkin of Nadhodka, Russia, a sophomore, has only lost once all season in number one singles play.
The Russian pair has only lost once in two seasons as a doubles team, but was able to avenge that loss to Jones County Junior College last week by defeating the doubles pair from Jones, 8-2.
Lisov and Pecherkin are the number one ranked team in the state in doubles play.
Lisov in currently the top-ranked player in the state in number two singles, while Pecherkin is the second-ranked player in the state at in number one singles.
