RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Men's Tennis team earned a strong 6-3 victory over Marion Military Institute on Monday afternoon. Hinds set the tone early by securing the doubles point and carried that momentum into singles play to claim the match.
In doubles action, Pablo De Haro Esteban and Jaume Socias Capella battled at No. 1 but fell 8-6. Dennis Hayes Jr. and Miguel Beltran Lopez dropped an 8-4 decision at No. 2. Hinds picked up a key win at No. 3, where Henry Slayton and Bryan Roldan earned a walkover victory to keep the doubles point within reach.
The Eagles responded in singles play with a dominant showing, winning five of the six matches. Pablo De Haro Esteban led the way at No. 1 with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win. Jaume Socias Capella followed with a victory at No. 2 after his opponent retired, taking the match 6-4, 0-0. Miguel Beltran Lopez secured a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3, while Dennis Hayes Jr. added another point with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5. Hinds also picked up a point at No. 6 as Levi Elkins won by walkover.
Marion Military Institute claimed its lone singles victory at No. 4, where Henry Slayton fell 6-0, 6-0.
Hinds will return to action on Friday, March 20th against Copiah-Lincoln CC in Wesson. First serve is schedules for 11 AM.
