PLANO, Texas – The Hinds Community College Men's Tennis team wrapped up their season competing in the NJCAA Division 1 Men's Tennis Championships at Collin College.
Fabian Juarez and
Gabriel Masu made a run in the tournament, making it to the round of 16 in the main draw but came up short, falling 2-6,7-5,4-6 to Charlie Brady and Matias Ruiz of Jones College. Additionally, Juarez navigated his way to the semi-finals in the back draw in the #3 singles spot.
Briley Oakes and
Colby Williamson had a good run advancing to the semi-finals in the back draw in the #3 doubles position. Oakes also played in the #6 singles spot and advanced to the quarterfinals in the back draw.
Region III awards were handed out at the banquet as
Gabriel Masu earned Rookie of the Year and
Fabian Juarez was named Sophomore of the Year. Assistant Coach Elizabeth Wooten won Region III Assistant Coach of the Year and National Assistant Coach of the Year on the women's side.
