Basketball wraps up 2015-2016 season

The Hinds Community College women's and men's basketball seasons came to an end on Thursday night in Ellisville, as both teams fell to Jones County Junior College to complete the season.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to JCJC, 71-58, while the Hinds men's team dropped a 95-68 decision to the Bobcats.

In women's action, it was Alexia Williams (McCalla, Ala.) who led the way, as she finished with 10 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs offense as the lone double-digit scorer.

Hinds finished the 2015-2016 season with a 10-13 overall record and 4-10 mark in the South division under first-year head coach Tomekia Reed.

Reed engineered an amazing turnaround in her first season in Utica, as the Lady Bulldogs improved by eight wins from a year ago, when Hinds won just two ballgames on the season.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs were led on Thursday night by Trojuan White (Hazlehurst) and Bobby Powell (Jackson), who finished with 16 and 15 points, respectively, in the defeat.

The Bulldogs ended the season with a 7-16 overall record and 4-10 mark in the South under longtime head man Ralph Moore.
