Men's tennis defeats Holmes on Saturday

The Hinds Community College men's tennis team defeated Holmes Community College, 7-2, on Saturday in Raymond to move to 1-1 on the young season.

Hinds fell to Jones County Junior College, 9-0, in the season opening matches on Feb. 18.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, weather permitting, traveling to Meridian Community College for a 2 p.m. start.

The individual results vs. Holmes on Feb. 20 are as follows:
#1 Singles – Daniel Yepez – W, 6-1 & 6-2
#2 Singles – Chris Crapps – W, 6-1 & 6-1
#3 Singles – Matthew Burks – W, 6-3 & 6-2
#4 Singles – Ryan Wheeless– L, 3-6 & 6-3 (10-2)
#5 Singles – Landon Young – W, 6-2 & 6-4
#6 Singles – Trace Myers – W, 7-5 & 6-3

#1 Doubles – Crapps/Yepez – W, 8-2
#2 Doubles – Burks/Young – L, 8-5
#3 Doubles – Myers/Wheeless – W, 8-2
