Women's tennis picks up third consecutive win

The win streak for the Hinds Community College women's tennis team has now moved to three straight after a 5-4 victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Monday.

Hinds, now 11-3, played host to Northwest Community College on Friday, April 1, but heavy rains in the area caused play to be suspended with the Lady Eagles ahead, 2-1. A make-up date has not been announced as of yet.

The Lady Eagles will return to Raymond on Thursday, hosting Jones County Junior College at 2 p.m.

The individual results vs. Gulf Coast on April 4 are as follows:
#1 Singles – Mariana Alvarez – W, 2-6, 6-4 (6)
#2 Singles – Brittany Weathersby – L, 6-2 & 6-0
#3 Singles – Rachel Rhett – W, 6-3 & 7-5
#4 Singles – Mary Neely Meyers– L, 6-2 & 7-5
#5 Singles – Sophia Slusasz – W, 6-2 & 6-2
#6 Singles – Rutchelyn Elizar – W, 7-6 (4), 6-1
