SUMTER, S.C. – The Hinds Community College women's tennis team wrapped up an impressive showing at the NJCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship, competing against the nation's best at the Palmetto Tennis Center and delivering strong performances across multiple flights.
Hinds was highlighted by several deep runs in both singles and doubles play, showcasing the program's depth and resilience on the national stage.
Rodia Noudogbessi led the charge with a standout tournament, advancing to the semifinals in Flight 2 singles. She opened with dominant straight-set victories before knocking off the No. 6 seed in the Round of 16 and continuing her momentum into the quarterfinals. Noudogbessi finished the week with a 4-2 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in singles play.
Jaqueline Vargas also made a significant impact, reaching the semifinals in Flight 3 singles. After a first-round bye, Vargas rolled through her Round of 16 match and secured an impressive quarterfinal win over the No. 4 seed before falling to the tournament's top seed. She concluded the tournament with a 3-2 overall record and a strong 2-1 showing in singles.
In Flight 4 singles,
Macie Curtis earned a convincing Round of 16 victory before advancing to the quarterfinals. Curtis also teamed with Vargas in Flight 2 doubles, where the duo picked up a Round of 16 win to reach the quarterfinals, finishing the tournament with a 2-2 overall record.
Daniela Lopez Rodriguez competed in Flight 1 singles and doubles, earning a Round of 16 victory in singles and pairing with Noudogbessi for a Round of 16 win in doubles. The duo battled in a tightly contested three-set match in the quarterfinals, narrowly missing a semifinal berth.
Taryn Green and
Landry Parks found success in Flight 3 doubles, making a strong run through the consolation bracket. After an early-round loss, the pair responded with back-to-back wins to reach the consolation final before falling in a tightly contested 9-8 match. Green also picked up a win in Flight 5 singles to contribute to the team's overall effort.
T'Errial Owens added to the team's success with a consolation bracket victory in Flight 6 singles, showing resilience after facing tough competition early in the tournament.
As a team, Hinds consistently competed deep into brackets across multiple flights, earning wins over seeded opponents and proving they can contend with the nation's top programs.
