Brandon Mitchell got the first win of his tenure as the head coach of the Hinds Lady Eagles soccer team on Tuesday (Sept. 11) following a 2-0 victory over Northwest Mississippi Community College (NWCC).

Brandon Mitchell said, "Obviously it is great getting the first win, but what I am really proud of is how the girls are buying into what we have been working on, and are executing the plan."
Hinds opened up the scoring in the 15
th minute when sophomore midfielder,
Michelle Reid (Oxford) sent the free kick into the box and sophomore forward,
Leighton Anderson (Ocean Springs), snuck it past the goal keeper.
Hinds added to their lead in the 61
st minute when Anderson found the back of the net for her second score on the day following another assist from Reid.
The win moved Hinds to 1-1 in division play which is good for third overall in the standings.
"Our goal is to make the playoffs and to accomplish that goal we have to continue to do what we did today and win division games," said Mitchell.
The Lady Eagles (1-3, 1-1) will be back in action Friday (Sept. 14) when they take on East Central Community College (1-5, 0-3) on the road in Decatur. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
