PERKINSTON – The Hinds Lady Eagles Tennis team won their season opener with a 6-3 victory over the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs yesterday (Feb. 13) on the road in Perkinston.  

The lineup for the Lady Eagles Doubles teams were the following:

1. Paula Gutierrez/Danna Gonzalez

2. Madison Curtis/Aryelle Waters

3. Anna Hayden Taylor/Taylor Smith

The lineup for the Lady Eagles Singles matches were the following:

1. Paula Gutierrez

2. Danna Gonzalez

3. Madison Curtis

4. Aryelle Waters

5. Anna Hayden Taylor

6. Courtney Buffington

The Lady Eagles took a 3-0 lead after a dominating 8-1 victory on the #2 doubles court by Curtis/Waters.

Anna Hayden Taylor then widened the lead for the Lady Eagles to 4-0 after a 6-0, 6-0 victory on the #5 singles court.

Madison Curtis then clinched the match for the Lady Eagles with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #3 singles court. Aryelle Waters also won her singles match 6-1, 6-2.

The Lady Eagles finished with a 6-3 victory over MGCCC starting off their season with a 1-0 record. Hinds Tennis will have their home opener in Raymond this Saturday against Meridian Community College. Matches will commence at 2:00 p.m.
