SUMMIT – Both the men's and women's tennis teams took home victories yesterday (March 19) over the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears and Lady Bears.
The No. 18 ranked men's team earned the complete sweep of the Bears winning 9-0.
In doubles,
Carlos Trujillo and
Mateo Garcia won the first match of the day for the Eagles 8-0. Pairs
Bryce Livingston and
Chris Adams followed by
Eric Holmes and
Drew Rexrode won their matches 8-1.
In singles, Trujillo took home the victory on court #1 (6-0, 6-2).
On court #2, Garcia won his match 6-1, 6-0.
On court #3,
Eric Holmes dominated winning 6-0, 6-0.
On court #4, Livingston earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
On court #5, Adam took home a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Rexrode completed the Eagles sweep on court #6, with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph.
The Eagles improved their overall record to 7-1.
The Hinds Lady Eagles then went on to defeat the Lady Bears 8-1.
On the doubles courts, the pairs of
Anna Hayden Taylor and Aryelle Waters along with
Madison Curtis and
Courtney Buffington won 8-4 and 8-3 respectively.
The results of the women's singles matches were as follows:
Curtis W: (6-1, 6-4)
Waters L: (4-6, 6-4, 8-10)
Taylor W: (6-3, 6-2)
Buffington W: (6-1, 6-2)
The Lady Eagles improved their overall record to 3-4.
Hinds Tennis will be back in action tomorrow Thursday, March 21 when they take on Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at home in Raymond. Matches commence at 1:00 p.m.
