RAYMOND – America's biggest sporting event of the year, Super Bowl LIV, will feature a former Hinds Eagle Football Standout, Charvarius Ward (McComb).
Ward is in his second season in the NFL and is currently the starting cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs. Ward has tallied 74 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and 10 passes defended this season (2019-2020).
So far in the playoffs, Ward has recorded 5 total tackles and one pass defended in the Chiefs victories over the Houston Texans (W: 51-31) in the AFC Divisional game and the Tennessee Titans (W: 35-24) in the AFC Championship game.
Ward played two seasons at cornerback for Hinds (2014 & 2015) where he accumulated 64 tackles and four interceptions before transferring to Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). While at MTSU, in two seasons Ward played in 25 games and tallied 74 tackles and 19 pass break ups.
Ward and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs will take the field for Super Bowl LIV this Sunday, February 7. The game will be held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be nationally televised on CBS.
