Box Score RIDGELAND - Hinds Community College Men's Soccer earned their first division win of the 2021 season Tuesday night with a 6-1 win over Holmes Community College.
"I am proud of the way the guys played today," head coach
Doug Williams said. "We are really starting to come together as a team and it is showing in the way we play," Williams said.
Hinds opened up their scoring in the 32nd minute with a goal by
Gavin Gaudin (Flowood), who was assisted by
Alejandro Pocasangre (Pearl). The Bulldogs quickly tied the game up one minute later.
With nine minutes left in the first half, sophomore forward
Yuta Yamada (Japan) scored on an assist from
Gavin Gaudin. The Eagles took the 2-1 lead into halftime.
The second half was all Hinds as the Eagles scored four more goals to put the game away. The first goal of the second half came in the 51st minute when
Greg Anderson (Jackson) scored on an assist from
Yuta Yamada. This score was Anderson's third goal of the season.
The next goal for Hinds came from
Jorge Munoz (Laurel), who was assisted by sophomore midfielder
Satsuki Mori (Japan).
The final two goals for the Eagles were scored in the final minutes of the game.
Satsuki Mori found the back of the net on an assist from
Yuta Yamada to put the Eagles up 5-1 with less than five minutes to play.
Alejandro Pocasangre grabbed his second goal of the season with two minutes left to play on an assist from
Jovan Mihajlovic (Serbia).
The Eagles return to Tom Shepherd Field on Friday, September 17 as they play host to Northwest Mississippi Community College. The game will kick-off at 7 p.m. in Raymond.
