Box Score RIDGELAND, Miss. - The Hinds Community College Men's Soccer team is moving on to the NJCAA Gulf South District Final after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Pearl River Community College on Wednesday at Freedom Ridge Park.
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles broke through in the 83rd minute when Cody Barnett found the back of the net off an assist from Oscar Tovar. The goal stood as the game-winner, securing Hinds' spot in the district final and extending their postseason run.
Goalkeeper Elliot Duffy turned in a stellar performance between the posts, recording three saves en route to his clean sheet and second postseason win of the year.
Defensively, the Eagles were organized and disciplined throughout, limiting Pearl River's chances and maintaining control of the match.
With the win, Hinds improves to 15-2-2 overall and continues its pursuit of the NJCAA Gulf South District Championship.
Hinds will return to action on Friday, November 7th against the top seeded Jones Bobcats for a chance at the Region 23 and Gulf South District Championship as well as an automatic berth in the NJCAA DII National Championship. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM.
