9/17/2021 10:20:00 PM

Box Score RAYMOND - The Hinds Community College men's soccer team came from behind and topped Northwest Mississippi Community College 3-2 for their second division win Friday evening.

"I am really proud of the way our team fought hard for the full 90 minutes and found a way to score two goals in the last three minutes," head coach Doug Williams said. "It was a great team effort tonight," Williams said.

The scoring started when sophomore forward Greg Anderson found the back of the net 15 minutes into the contest. This goal marked Anderson's fourth goal of the 2021 season.

No damage was done by either team for the rest of the first half.

The Rangers started off the second half strong. About five minutes into the second half, Northwest grabbed their first goal, tying the game 1-1. Nearly 15 minutes later, Northwest grabbed another goal to take the lead with 26:01 to play.

Northwest was able to hold on to this lead for nearly the rest of the second half. With less than five minutes to play, Hinds was able to tie the game thanks to the foot of sophomore midfielder Joseph Cumberland. This game tying goal was Cumberland's first goal of his sophomore campaign.

With roughly two minutes to play, sophomore midfielder Satsuki Mori put the Eagles on top and sealed the deal on a 3-2 division win.

The Eagles return to Tom Shepherd Field on Friday, September 24 as they play host to East Central Community College. The game will kick-off at 7 p.m. in Raymond.
