Box Score RAYMOND – Hinds Community College men's soccer fell to ninth-ranked Pearl River Community College Friday night 4-1. The loss puts the Eagles at 3-7-1 overall and 3-3 in conference.

Freshman striker João Pereira (Portugal) finished with a brace tonight with both goals coming in the first half.

"The only thing I am disappointed with was the result," said head coach Robert Gardner. "Collectively, as a team I thought we were very good with some very good individual performances. I am proud of João and his two goals and the ones that helped him score. Tony (King) had his best game in a Hinds shirt and Dorian (Allen) was excellent tonight."

The Wildcats struck first and took a 1-0 lead shortly after the game began. But the Eagles equalized a few minutes later. Tony King (Vicksburg) was credited with the assist and Pereira found the back of the net.

Pearl River started to build some separation as they netted two goals to take a 3-1 lead not long before halftime. Pereira got his second goal with less than five minutes left in the first half.

The Eagles fought tooth-and-nail in the second half, but the Wildcats were able to pull away with another goal to secure their 4-2 victory.

"I do have to congratulate Pearl River because they were clinical," said Gardner. "Scoring four goals on five shots is very difficult to do, so well done to them."
