Box Score BATON ROUGE, LA - The Hinds Community College men's basketball team recorded their first road win of the season with a 66-54 win over Baton Rouge Community College Saturday.
"This was a tough first road game," said head coach Jonathan Nevol. "For the first time this season we were down at halftime. We showed a lot of toughness to get out of there with the win. Baton Rouge came to compete. They held their own on defense and kept us to our lowest point total of the year."
In a game where there were no made three-point baskets, the Bulldogs managed to make up for it by getting to the stripe behind great attacking play from Patrick McCraney (Monroe, LA) and Kenard Bowie (Jackson), who made a combined 14 free-throws out the 18 attempted by Hinds.
"We struggled making our usual deep shots but made up for it by getting to the free-throw line," Nevol said. "Our starters, Patrick and Kendard, really attacked the rim in the second half and converted their shots when it counted."
McCraney led the Bulldogs in scoring with 28 points. He also pulled down nine rebounds and had five assists. McCraney was closely followed by Bowie, who had a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards.
