RAYMOND – Hinds Community College's men and women's tennis team defeated East Central Community College Friday to win their second straight set of matches.
Prior to the win Friday, both squads started their week with a clean 9-0 sweep over Northeast Mississippi Community College Tuesday.
"We came into the ECCC match with confidence and a plan which was executed flawlessly," said head coach Jackie Millet. "Preparation has been the key to our success this year. The players have been dedicated and have put in the hard work necessary to compete at a high level in this conference."
The women's team (6-1) recorded their third sweep of the season when they defeated the Lady Warriors 9-0. Several big wins for the Lady Eagles in doubles matches carried the needed momentum into singles, where Hinds won all six single courts.
The men's team (6-2) won all six double courts against the Warriors and won the majority of their single matches to secure a 7-2 victory.

Women Doubles
- Eni Anic (Croatia) and Itzel Lara Gonzalez (Mexico) won 8-5
- Emi Smith (Brandon) and Morgan Ross (Clinton) won big 8-1
- Myesha Nealon (Greenville) and Nyesha Nealon (Greenville) won their match 8-1
Women's Singles
- Anic, Gonzalez, Smith, Ross, M. Nealon and Anesha Smith (Lena) won their singles matches
Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, February 22 when they head to Goodman to take on Holmes Community College. Matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
