MCCOMB – Hinds Community College's men and women's team snapped a four-match losing streak to down Southwest on the road Thursday afternoon.
Women's tennis won all nine courts, and the men's team won seven.
The women's team (8-5) continued their success on the road and recorded their fourth clean sweep of the season.
The men's team (8-6) won two out of the three doubles courts and carried that momentum into singles, where they won five out of six courts.
Below are the results from the Southwest matches:
Men Doubles:
- Kwanda Mbalekwa (South Africa) and Abraham Gonzalez (Mexico) dominated with an 8-1 win.
- Cameron Courtney (Florence) and Bryce Ramshur (Columbia) grabbed a close victory 8-6
Men Singles:
- Mbalekwa, Gonzalez, Ramshur, Jacob Runnels and Courtney won their singles matches
Women Doubles:
- Eni Anic (Croatia) and Emi Smith (Brandon) won big 8-0
- Morgan Ross (Clinton) and Anesha Smith (Lena) won big 8-0
- Myesha and Nyesha Nealon (Greenville) swept their court 8-0
Women Singles:
- Anic, Emi Smith, Ross, Myesha Nealon, Nyesha Nealon and Anesha Smith all won their singles matches
Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, March 22 when they head to Decatur to take on East Central Community College. Matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
