Eagles fall to Pearl River in game two of Region 23 Tournament

POPLARVILLE – Hinds Community College baseball fell 13-3 in five innings against top-ranked Pearl River Community College in game two of the Region 23 Tournament.
 
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead by putting up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Hinds would then answer with a run of their own in the top of the third inning when Vantrel Reed (Vicksburg) hit a sacrifice fly that scored Connor Chisolm (Madison).
 
The Eagles wouldn't get another run until the fifth inning when Clay Benson (Monroe, La.) hit a two-run homerun that scored himself and Justin Williams (Madison).
 
After a five-run fifth, Pearl River used a six-run sixth inning to secure the 13-3 run-rule victory.
 
Getting the start in game two on the mound was Connor Nation (Madison), who pitched two innings and gave up five hits. He was followed by Mayson Shealy (Vicksburg) and Nasson Rodriguez (Madison) in relief.
 
Up next
 
The Eagles face elimination tomorrow at noon when they will either take on East Mississippi or Jones College.
