Hinds Athletics to restructure in 2022

6/15/2022 4:56:00 PM

RAYMOND – The Hinds Community College Director of Athletics Nathan Werremeyer has announced a restructuring of a few areas within the athletic department, effective for the upcoming fiscal year.

"Now that I've had a full year to learn more about Hinds and the athletic department, I felt it was time to start making some changes that will benefit our student-athletes as we move into a new era and position ourselves to be one of the top athletic departments in the state."

Beginning July 1, Hinds will partner with Elite Physical Therapy, an affiliate of Upstream Rehabilitation, to provide athletic training services for all student-athletes. "This partnership has been years in the making," said Hinds AD Nathan Werremeyer. "Hinds and Elite have been talking long before I arrived last year, I just pressed the go button." Elite will work with Hinds Athletics to hire three new Certified Athletic Trainers and offer easy access to Elite PT clinics and Mississippi Sports Medicine physicians.

"Andrew is a crucial part of Hinds Athletics with his role as compliance and eligibility coordinator. With as many rules and regulations the MACCC has, we need someone with an eye for details to make sure we are in full compliance," said Werremeyer. "My entire job at Dodge City Community College was devoted to compliance and eligibility and the MACCC has twice as many rules to comply with than the KJCCC did." Gunn is a 2012 alumni of Hinds and has been with the school since 2018 as an Assistant Baseball Coach. Werremeyer pointed out that, "with Andrew devoted to the athletic department full time, it will allow me to leave the office more to visit with community members, potential donors, and alumni as we try to garner support for our new corporate partnerships program and Impact Fund."

Both changes will be effective on July 1, 2022.
