RAYMOND – Hinds Community College football dropped game one of the 2022 season 20-3 to Northeast Mississippi Community College Thursday evening.
The Eagle defense shined in the first half, forcing three turnovers. Two of the turnovers came from
Ty'Verius Nichols (Starkville), who recorded two interceptions in the first quarter alone. The third turnover for the Eagle defense came from
Isaiah Bolton (Columbia), who fell on a loose ball in the second quarter.
The Eagles then capitalized on the turnover and scored their first and only points on a field goal by freshman kicker
Louie Gatlin (Jackson) to make the score 7-3 in favor of the Tigers.
Northeast would add a field goal just before the conclusion of the first half to push their lead to 10-3.
The Hinds defense would continue their impressive showing by forcing three punts in the second half.
