Box Score RAYMOND – Hinds Community College men's soccer picked up the first win of the
Robert Gardner era with a 4-1 win over Holmes Community College Friday evening. The win pushes the Eagles to 1-2 in conference for 2022.
"I'm extremely happy for the guys and for the reward they get for their work," said head coach
Robert Gardner. "I thought we were excellent in the first half and maybe just didn't find the final finishing moment."
All goals for the Eagles came in the second half after a neck and neck first 45 minutes.
Joao Pereira (Portugal) got the party started with a goal about 10 minutes into the second half. This goal was assisted by
Sonny Bizure (North Billerica, MA).
Nicolas Jones (Chile) was the next to find the back of the net with his goal that was assisted by Bizure. On the night, Bizure finished with two assists. The two would trade roles quickly as Bizure would score a goal less than 10 minutes from Jones'.
The last goal of the evening came from Pereira, who finished with two goals scored. Pereira was assisted by
Fischer Reed (Pearl).
"In the second half, over a 10-minute period, we scored two excellent goals and added a third after that," said Gardner. "We had a very specific game plan, and the boys are able to see that out, so I am so happy for them and for their performance. They deserved this win very much!"
The Bulldogs would grab their only goal in the dying minutes of the contest. Hinds would get the 4-1 shortly thereafter.
