UTICA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Men's Basketball team dropped an 86-76 contest to Holmes Community College on Thursday evening inside J.D. Boyd Gymnasium. With the loss, the Bulldogs drops to 1-3 overall through the first four games of the season.
It was a back-and-forth affair to open the first half, but Hinds pulled away late in the first half to take the 45-34 advantage going into the halftime break. Holmes came out of the halftime break with vengeance and outscored Hinds 52-31 in the second half to take the 86-76 victory.
"Great game by both teams last night. I'm proud of the effort the team played with last night. We just have to come up with the plays to win the game," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Jonathan Nevol.
Dion Perkins led Hinds with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while
Jaquarrius Collum finished the night with 19 points. Additionally, Collum played in all 40 minutes and went 8-for-13 from the field.
Jakobe Singleton concluded the contest with 11 points and
Elijah Kennedy finished the night with 10 points. Rounding out the scoring was
Joseph Dupree (six points),
Edarious Williams (four points), and
Joshua Lemon (two points). As a team, Hinds shot 48.5% from the field and went 9-for11 from the charity stripe.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Monday, November 13, squaring off with Bossier Parish Community College in the Coca-Cola Classic in Summit, MS. Tip-off is set for 3PM.
