NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Hinds Community College men's basketball team picked up their first victory on Saturday with a 78-73 overtime win against Delgado. The Bulldogs improved to 1-1 overall early in the season.
The Bulldogs struggled in the opening half as Delgado outscored Hinds 31-27 at the halftime break. Early in the second half, the Bulldogs took the lead for the first time since the 18:39 mark in the first half. Hinds and Delgado exchanged buckets for the majority of the second half as the score was tied at 65 at the end of regulation to force the game to overtime.
The Bulldogs scored the first score in overtime and did not let Delgado take the lead for the rest of the game as Hinds picked up their first victory of the season by a final score of 78-73.
Joseph Dupree played for 30 minutes, racked up a team-high 27 points, shot 50 percent from the floor, and 75% from behind the arc.
Jakobe Singleton and
Edarious Williams were the only two bulldogs that earned a double-double in the contest. Singleton had 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Williams posted 13 points and 10 rebounds. To close out the box score,
Isaiah Davis finished with nine points,
Jamari Glover scored six points,
Dion Perkins scored five points,
Elijah Kennedy had two points and
Joshua Lemon finished the game with a point.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Monday, November 6 against Mississippi Delta CC in the Home Opener. Tip off is set for 7:30 PM.
