Men’s Basketball Picks Up Road Win at East Mississippi

SCOOBA, Miss. - The Hinds Community College Men's Basketball team picked up an 84-79 victory over the East Mississippi Community College Lions on Monday evening. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 9-13 overall and 2-9 in MACCC play.

The Bulldogs and Lions played a tightly contested game as the score was tied at 30 at the halftime break. Hinds fell behind late in the contest, but the Bulldogs overcame the deficit to secure the 84-79 victory over the Lions of East Mississippi Community College. 

Taylon Smith led the Bulldogs with 27 points and went 7-for-14 from beyond the arc. Kenard Bowie scored 15 points and earned a team-high five steals in the contest. Additionally, he shot 60% from the field and 75 percent from the free-throw line. Isaac Ratliff scored his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

As a team, the Bulldogs went 31-for-61 from the floor (50.8%), 9-for-23 (39.1%) from three-point range, and 13-for-17 (76.5%) from the charity stripe.

The Bulldogs will be back in action Thursday, February 16th against the Holmes Community College inside J.D. Boyd Gymnasium – Earl Joe Nelson Court in Utica, Miss. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
