RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Baseball team grabbed two late victories over Millsaps College JV. Eagles took game one from the Majors by a final score of 9-5. The Eagles took game two of the doubleheader by a final score of 6-3. With the sweep, the Eagles improve to 3-2 overall record.
GAME ONE
After a scoreless first inning of the game, the Eagles scored the first run of the contest in the top of the second inning. The hosts responded with two runs to bring the score to 2-1 after two complete innings.
Hinds leveled the contest at 2-2 in the top of the third inning, but the Majors scores two in the fifth and one in the sixth to take the 5-2 advantage going into the final frame of the game. Down by five runs, the Eagles scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning led by Marsala's three-run homer as the Eagles took game one 9-5.
Braden Richardson had three hits in the contest and one of the two homeruns that the Eagles hit. Ashton John went 1-2 at the plate and tallied two RBI.
Thomas Marsala had the big three-run homer with one out in the top of the seventh.
Everett Thompson got the start on the bump for the Eagle and earned the no decision in the contest. Tristian Wilbanks came in relief for Thompson, while
Dawson Muenzenmay pitched the final two inning and picked up the victory for the Eagles.
GAME TWO
Game two of the doubleheader started similar to the first game as the Eagles scored the first run of the contest in the top of the second inning. The Majors capitalized in the bottom half of the frame to even the game up at 1-1. Millsaps added two runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead.
After a scoreless fourth and fifth inning, Hinds scored four runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh to take the 6-3 victory over the Majors and earn the first sweep of the 2024 season.
Tyler Janos went 2-3 from the plate and scored one run in the game.
Cameron Hill hit the only homerun for the Eagles, while
Brice Ainsworth grabbed an RBI in the contest.
Carson Reed got the start on the mound for the Eagles and picked up the no decision in the game.
Ford McDaniel earned the win for the Eagles in relief going four innings and posted six strikeouts.
Grant Holmes came in to get the final batter out of the inning as the Eagles grab the sweep of the doubleheader.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 10
th against Panola College in Carthage, TX. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 2 PM.
