WESSON, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Football team was unable to keep pace as Co-Lin dominated on all sides of the ball, resulting in a 48-0 defeat on Thursday night at H.L Stone Stadium in the Road Opener.
On the opening kickoff, the Wolves returned the ball to Hinds 7-yard line and punched it in on the next play to take an early advantage. After a fumble by the Hinds' Offense, Co-Lin scooped up the fumble and returned it to the one-yard line. The following play the Wolves crossed the goal line to bring the score to 14-0 at the 10:42 mark of the 1
st quarter. Co-Lin continued to score grabbing another touchdown just before the second quarter but failed to convert the PAT to make the score 20-0. Both teams exchanged possessions for the majority part of the second quarter, but the Wolves extended their lead to 27-0 to go into the halftime break with the lead.
Coming out of halftime, the Eagles received the ball, but their drive ended on a
Tanner Hollingsworth punt. The defense held strong for the next possession and the wolves drive ended in a 51-yard punt. After a fumble by the Eagles offense the Wolves grabbed the ball and took it in for the touchdown to bring the score to 34-0 in the third quarter. The Wolves scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make the final score 48-0.
Jabari Watson went 10-for-20 and totaled 89 passing yards, while
Julius Bradley led the rushing attack with 11 attempts for 29 yards.
Tyrell Pollard led the Eagles' receiving corps with six receptions for 38 yards.
Defensively,
Derrick Davis led the way with seven total tackles with a TFL and a fumble recovery.
Aven Kelley registered a sack and forced fumble in the contest. Additionally,
TJ Grant posted a sack in the game and
Tanner Hollingsworth led the charge in the special teams with nine punts for 333 yards with a long of 59 yards and landed three punts inside the 20.
Hinds will return to action on Thursday, September 19 against Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead. This game will be their homecoming and will kick off at 2 PM.
