Hinds Falls to #10 EMCC on Military and First Responders Night

RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Eagles fell to the 10th ranked East Mississippi Community College Liona 43-3 on Military and First Responders Night Inside Joe Renfroe Stadium. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season. 

The Lions opened the scoring with six minutes remaining in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead but missed the PAT to keep the score at 6-0. The visitors score two additional touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 19-0 advantage going into the halftime break. 

Within four minutes in the third quarter, EMCC capped off a 6 play 64-yard drive that ended in a two-yard run by Gavin Griffin as the Lions took the commanding 27-0 advantage. Tanner Hollingsworth got the Eagles on the board with a 20-yard field to bring the score to 27-3. The Eagles could not stop the Lions' offense in the fourth quarter as EMCC took the commanding 43-3 victory over Hinds.

Julius Bradley led the rushing attack with 39 rushing yards and averaged 3.5 yards per rush. Seven Eagles registered rushing stats for a total of 68 rushing yards in the contest. Defensively, Walter Owens and Tommy Kelly Jr. led Hinds with seven total tackles apiece. Owens had the lone interception for the Eagles and Kelly registered a tackle for loss. 

Hinds will return to action on Thursday, September 12 against Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves at H.L. Stone Stadium in Wesson. Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM.
