UTICA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Women's basketball team picked up a conference victory inside J.D. Boyd Gymnasium as they took down Copiah-Lincoln CC by a final score of 64-57. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs move to 14-13 overall and 2-9 in conference play.
After a slow start, the Lady bulldogs picked up steam and went on a 11-7 run to close out the first quarter of play. The visitors grabbed their first lead of the game midway through the second quarter, but Hinds quickly regained the lead and took the 27-24 advantage into the halftime break.
In the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Wolves exchanged baskets and possessions for the majority of the quarter. Hinds outscored the Lady Wolves 19-16 in the third frame to go into the final frame with the 46-40 lead. Co-Lin never got the lead again in the fourth quarter as Hinds picked up the 64-57 victory.
Lamaria Jones led all scorers with 24 points, shot 7-for-12 from the floor, and was 90% from the free-throw line.
Jasi Jenkins finished the contest with 12 points and 10 rebounds as she grabbed her fourth double-double on the season.
Myan Bartholemy was one point from a double-double, however she tallied a team-high 11 rebounds in the win.
Hinds will return to action on Monday, February 24
th when they travel to Scooba to take on East Mississippi CC in a pivotal conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
