Dan Rives

Dan Rives is entering his 11th season as an assistant coach with the Hinds baseball program. Rives works with the infielders and assists with the Hinds hitters and baserunners, while heading up the Eagles strength and conditioning program.

The 2014 infield quartet of Marshall Boggs (1B), Matt Jones (2B), Luke Reynolds (3B) and Chase Lunceford (SS) were all named to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State team as freshmen and played a large role in helping the Eagles advance to the national championship game at the World Series in Enid, Okla.

In 2012, he helped tutor Tyler Akins and Beau Wallace, who were both named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American team. Wallace was a 12th round selection in the 2013 MLB draft by the Pittsburg Pirates.

Rives also oversaw the development of Travious Relaford, who left Raymond after one season in 2011 after being drafted by the San Francisco Giants. Relaford was voted Best Athlete and Fastest Runner in the Giants organization by Baseball America for the 2011 draft class.

He also serves as the recruiting coordinator for the Eagles, helping bring in nine talented classes during his time in Raymond. The talent on the field has helped Hinds win three MACJC state championships in 2010,2012 and 2015 and claim a Region XXIII championship in 2014.

Rives also serves as the sports information director at Hinds, where he has overseen the redesign of the athletic website on three occasions as well as the production of all athletic publications and news releases.

Rives completed his bachelor of science degree in kinesiology from Mississippi College in 2005, where he earned All-Southwest Conference honors as a senior. He was voted Team MVP by his teammates and coaches, and also obtained All-Academic honors in his junior and senior seasons. Rives received his master of arts degree in Social Science from MC in 2007.

He and his wife Andrea reside in Clinton with their daughter, Madelyn, and son, Luke.
