Clarence McDougal enters his first season as the defensive coordinator under head coach Larry Williams in 2018.
Prior to being named the defensive coordinator, McDougal served as the secondary coach for the Eagle football program from 2013-2017. During that time, McDougal’s secondary’s have averaged 10.4 interceptions per season hauling in 52 interceptions overall. Also during that time, Mcdougal produced three NJCAA All-American defensive backs which include Kenya Davis (2013), Greg Taylor (2015), and Byron Galvin (2017).
Prior to Hinds, Mcdougal spent the previous five seasons (2008-2012) as the linebackers’ and safeties coach at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, helping lead the Wolves to the 2012 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state championship.
From 2008-2017, McDougal has developed more than 20 defensive backs who have gone on to play NCAA Division I Football and one NFL player, Charvarius Ward (Dallas Cowboys).
Prior to beginning his coaching career, McDougal excelled on the gridiron. He graduated from Clinton High School and was selected to The Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen team as both a defensive back and wide receiver. He was also named First Team All-State, All-Metro Player of the Year and was selected to play in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game. McDougal was rated as the No. 6 safety in the country and was a high school All-American. He was also selected to the high school All-Decade Team.
He continued his career at Mississippi State University where he played in 34 games for Bulldogs from 2003-2005. During that time, he accumulated 173 tackles including 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick.

McDougal graduated from Mississippi State with bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. Following graduation, he spent time in training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL) before embarking on his coaching career.
McDougal is married to Crystal and the couple has three children, Cameren, Lauren Crislyn and Clarence Jr.
