Nathan Werremeyer

Nathan Werremeyer was named the fourth Director of Athletics at Hinds on July 1, 2021. Entering the fifth year under his leadership, Hinds Athletics has seen tremendous growth and restructuring in the first 18 months of his arrival. Werremeyer helped create and launch the Impact Fund, Corporate Partnership Program, and Small Business Partnership Program which are geared toward annual giving and developing business partnerships for Hinds Athletics. Werremeyer also negotiated a new Athletic Training Services contract with Elite Physical Therapy and Mississippi Sports Medicine, revamping the entire athletic training department. Werremeyer also currenlty serves on the NJCAA DI Football, DI Women's Basketball, and Competitive Cheer Committees.

In his first year, Werremeyer helped spearhead significant facility enhancements, including new Danley sound systems for Joe Renfroe Stadium, Joe G. Moss Field, and Renee T. Warren Field, updated graphics for all facilities, a new press box and concession stand at Renee T. Warren Field, as well as new bleachers for both Joe Renfroe Stadium and Renee T. Warren Field. Hinds Athletics also cleared trees at Joe Renfroe Stadium, creating a new tailgate space and VIP seating area. New scoreboards were installed at football, baseball, and soccer facilities, further enhancing the game-day experience. Werremeyer also helped secure $50,000 in initial funding for the new Mayo Multipurpose Facility, contributing to the completion of the $500,000 indoor training facility, which filled in the old pool and created a fully turfed practice area for teams and events.

Since 2022, Hinds Athletics has secured over $600,000 in external funding, of which $400,000 has gone directly back into Hinds Athletics programs. In 2024, with the help of private donations, Hinds Administration, and Hinds Facilities Mangement; Joe Renfroe Stadium, Joe G. Moss, and Tom Shepherd Field all received new Daktronics scoreboards.

A Missouri native, Werremeyer has extensive experience previously serving as the Assistant Athletic Director and Compliance/Eligibility Coordinator at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas, and at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Mo., where he served for five years as Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director. Prior to that, he served nine years as an Head Athletic Trainer for Mineral Area College through Athletico Physical Therapy in Farmington, Mo.

In his previous role at Dodge City, he was responsible for all conference, Region VI and NJCAA compliance, including all paperwork required to establish athletes’ eligibility, fiscal management of the athletic scholarships and operational budgets as well as overseeing aspects of business and facility operations, and helped serve as the sport administrator for many of Dodge City’s 17 sports. Werremeyer spearheaded the transition to a new Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system as well as helping to establish a new online ticketing system through current Hinds ticketing partner, Hometown Ticketing.

He served on numerous health and safety committees through the COVID-19 pandemic that helped develop policies and procedures for a safe return to campus and games. He also served as the Division Chair for Health, PE and Recreation at Dodge City and since 2011 has been continuing to serve as an adjunct instructor at Mineral Area College, teaching Intro to Sports Management, Principles of Strength Training and Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries.

He received a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and Health Education from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. where he played defensive end for the Eagles. He received a master’s degree in Sport Management at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis in 2014.
