Relaford drafted by Giants

Travious Relaford

Travious Relaford of Union City, Ga., a freshman shortstop on the Hinds baseball team, was drafted in the 44th round (1,347th pick) of the 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft by the defending champion San Francisco Giants.

Relaford, who was a Baseball America preseason All-American pick, hit .280 with seven doubles and stole five bases on the season for the Eagles.

The slick-fielding shortstop was recently named Best Junior College Defender for the entire nation of junior colleges by Perfect Game.
