The Hinds Community College Eagles baseball team will look to earn the program's eighth state championship and third in the last five years starting on Thursday when the Eagles compete in the 2014 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state tournament in Booneville.

Northeast Mississippi Community College, the highest remaining seed from the North division, is set to host the four-team event for the first time in the program's history. The double elimination event is scheduled to run from Thurs, May 8 through Sat, May 10 at Harold T. White Field in Booneville.

A possible seven games will be contested over the three-day period with the top three schools advancing to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament next weekend.

Hinds will open tournament play with fellow South division foe East Central Community College at noon on Thursday.

The Tigers of Northeast will face off with the nation's top ranked team, Jones County Junior College, in the 4 p.m. nightcap.

A pair of elimination games are set for Friday, with the losers of games one and two meeting at 10 a.m. The loser of that contest concludes their season while the victor secures its spot in the regionals.

The two winners of Thursday's matchups hit the diamond at 1 p.m. with a berth to the 2014 championship game at stake. The loser of that game must rebound quickly with a final elimination game booked for a 4 p.m. start.

The 2014 MACJC State Championship game will begin at noon on Saturday. If a second game on Saturday is necessary, it will follow at approximately 3 p.m.

Admission is $5 each day at Harold T. White Field. Tournament t-shirts will be on sale as well for $15 while special gameday programs cost $2 at the entrance.

Northeast Community College will provide a commentator for all games that involve Northeast, but for the neutral games (example East Central vs. Hinds on the opening day), the school will offer live video only.
