Softball drops consecutive doubleheaders

The Hinds Community College softball team traveled to No. 1 ranked Jones County Junior College on Monday morning looking for a South division victory, but the Lady Eagles were unable to come away with a win, as the Lady Bobcats pulled off a doubleheader sweep.

Hinds fell in game one, 8-0, and in game two, 10-1.

Molli Douglass (Clinton) and Brianna McMillan (Taylorsville) each had a single in the shutout loss in Monday's opener.

Douglass, Bre Glenn (Brandon), Alexis Kinard (Terry) and Alexis Patterson (Vicksburg) all singled in the 10-1 loss in the second game versus JCJC.

The Lady Eagles hosted Southwest Community College on Saturday and dropped a heartbreaker in game one, 7-5, and game two, 7-2.

Bailey Dodd (Gulfport) and Patterson were each perfect on the offensive side in Saturday's opening game, as Dodd was 3-3 with three runs scored and two RBI and Patterson was a perfect 4-4 with a run scored and RBI in game one.

Kinard led the way on offense in game two's 7-2 loss, as she was 3-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Monday, traveling to Fulton and Itawamba Community College for a 2 p.m. doubleheader against the Lady Indians.
