Softball sweeps Co-Lin on Wednesday

The Hinds Community College softball team swept Copiah-Lincoln Community College in a South division doubleheader at Rene Warren Field in Raymond on Wednesday.

The two-game sweep moved the Lady Eagles overall record to 10-14 overall and 4-10 in the South division.

Hinds won game one, 1-0 in 10 innings, before claiming the nightcap, 5-3.

Bridgett Goss (Bogalusa, La.) was magnificent in the circle in game one, throwing all 10 innings and allowing only four hits while striking out two and walking two. She moved to 5-6 on the season.

Meagan Duchesne (Mangham, La.) was 2-4 in the opener, while Bre Glenn (Brandon) finished 1-3.

Glenn had a huge second game, going 2-3 with a home run, single and three RBI, including the eventual go-ahead homer in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Alexis Patterson (Vicksburg) also collected a hit and an RBI in the nightcap.

Duchesne earned the win in relief, throwing the final 3.1 innings of scoreless ball to advance her record to 2-4 on the season.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday, hosting Meridian Community College in a conference doubleheader at 2 p.m. in Raymond.
