Lady Eagles head to Southwest on Wednesday

Molli Douglass (5) hit a grand slam versus Meridian

The Hinds Lady Eagles softball team will travel to Summit on Wednesday to take on Southwest Community College in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.

Hinds played host to Pearl River Community College on Monday afternoon in Raymond, while also hosting Meridian Community College last Friday.

The Lady Eagles of Hinds were defeated in game one, 5-3, before falling 8-3 in game two to Pearl River in a contest that was called after six innings due to darkness.

Hinds defeated Meridian, 10-9, in Friday's opener before dropping the finale, 4-3.

Bre Glenn (Brandon) continued her torrid pace in the opener versus PRCC on Monday, going 3-3 with a home run, RBI and two runs scored.

Gabby Franklin (Waynesboro) and Alexis Patterson (Vicksburg) both had multiple hits in the opener.

The two-run loss spoiled another great effort in the circle for Bridgett Goss (Bogalusa, La.), who only allowed two earned runs in eight innings, but the Lady Eagles could not capitalize offensively.

Goss earned a no decision and it was Meagan Duchesne (Mangham, La.) who got the loss after throwing the final inning and allowing two runs.

Glenn hit another home run in the second game on Monday and she got some offensive help from Duchesne and Tory Laird (Natchez), who each had two hits.

Jessica Travis (Oak Grove, La.) took the loss in the circle in Monday's final game.

The Lady Eagles had a slugfest in Friday's opening game with Meridian and it was Molli Douglass (Clinton) who provided the knockout punch with her fifth inning grand slam. She finished the game 2-3 with five RBI and a run scored.

Duchesne was 3-4 with three RBI and Courtenay Holt (Brandon) was 2-3 with three runs scored to lead the attack.

Duchesne also grabbed the win in the circle after throwing the final inning and picking up two strikeouts.

Travis was the hard-luck loser in the second game versus Meridian, as she threw all seven innings and picked up five strikeouts and allowed only four runs after scattering 11 hits.

Alexis Kinard (Terry) was the lone Lady Eagle with multiple hits in game two.
